Yahoo Inc. on Wednesday said it plans to webcast the celebration following the airing of shock jock Howard Stern's last show on traditional FM radio.

The "exclusive" live video will show the party at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York. Stern is leaving WXRK K-Rock Friday for Sirius Satellite Radio, which signed a $500 million contract with Stern in hopes of attracting some of his 12 million listeners. His show airs on Sirius early next year.

Sirius and its larger rival XM Satellite Radio are using celebrity signings to attract subscribers. XM recently signed folk-rock singer Bob Dylan to host a weekly one-hour program.

Yahoo, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., plans to escort Stern to the party in its own Yahoo-branded double-decker bus. The entertainment portal is apparently looking to attract visitors by covering the high-profile departure. Exclusive video content, such as music videos and TV programming, have become a regular occurrence on Yahoo and its rivals in order to attract people.

Yahoo has built a special "countdown site" where visitors can access the webcast, as well as other Stern-related content. In addition, Yahoo plans to integrate other services with the site to let fans blog, share photos and send messages.

To access the site, visitors will have to search for Howard Stern on the portal's search engine.
