Alphablox upgraded the presentation capability of its Alphablox Analytics platform with an eye toward making it possible for a broader number of end users to integrate analytics into their business processes.

The new software expected to be announced today, called Analytics 5.5, features new charting capabilities including radar graphs and waterfall charts, and six new types of trending to enable regression and predictive analytics. Analytics 5.5 is also designed for easier interactivity and customizability.

Alphablox markets itself as a provider of "inline" analytics, meaning its platform is designed for building customized analytic applications that are closely embedded into operational processes. "We see the market moving very strongly toward custom analytic applications," said Nick Halsey, Alphablox SVP of worldwide sales and marketing.

Alphablox's target markets include pharmaceutical manufacturing companies, high-tech manufacturers, financial services companies and retailers, among others. The company also makes an alerts product.
