BMC Software Inc. on Thursday said it plans to release next week an upgrade of its application management tools for PeopleSoft business software.

Patrol for PeopleSoft 2.0 provides centralized management for the vendor's human resource, financial and other enterprise resource planning applications. The BMC tools cover the full PeopleSoft environment, including the applications, transaction engine, databases and related operating system.

"Patrol for PeopleSoft notifies administrators of problems before they affect the users, helping companies meet their service level agreements and keeping their business services stable and performing optimally," Mary Smars, vice president and general manager of distributed systems management for Houston-based BMC, said in a statement.

The upgrade ships Monday, company officials said.
