Business Objects on Tuesday said it has signed an agreement in which it will embed and resell IBM mainframe connectivity software with its data integration platform.

The San Jose, Calif., business intelligence software maker said IBM's DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation for z/OS will be embedded in Business Objects' Data Integrator. The combined product will enable enterprises to more easily access data and metadata in mainframe systems for use in Business Objects analytical applications.

"Our agreement with IBM is great news for our customers, as it gives them even greater ability to simplify and speed data movement and data sharing across the enterprise,” Sachin Chawla, vice president of data integration technology at Business Objects, said in a statement.

The Data Integrator platform enables enterprises to access, integrate, transform and deliver data for reporting, query and analysis; analytic applications, and performance management.
