It's out with the new and in with the old—at least at PeopleSoft, Pleasanton, Calif.

Just two weeks after the ouster of CEO Craig Conway, Ram Gupta, PeopleSoft executive vice president of product and technology, has also left the building. PeopleSoft declined to clarify whether Gupta—who had been with PeopleSoft for four years—left voluntarily or otherwise.

During his tenure, Gupta oversaw the integration of the J.D. Edwards product line, which PeopleSoft acquired last year. And just last month, Gupta delivered a major keynote at the PeopleSoft users conference in San Francisco. He joined PeopleSoft from Healtheon WebMD.

His replacement is Stanley Swete, who had spent 10 years at PeopleSoft during the Dave Duffield days, before retiring in 2002.

Duffield, the company's founder and chairman, stepped back into the CEO role on Conway's departure. Conway became CEO in September 1999, four months after joining PeopleSoft.
