Job seekers can find job contacts and network while searching for positions through a career development network that offers a new People Search capability.
MyWorkster announced Thursday that it has a new tool to allow professionals and employers to narrow their searches based on contacts and social networks.
When job seekers use MyWorkster's People Search, they can use criteria like industry, location, collegiate network, and year graduated to find the best person to reach at a potential employer. The proprietary system also allows employers to sift through candidates and narrow their search results, based on the same criteria.
"In today's job climate, connecting with fellow alumni and professionals with whom you share common background are keys to career success," Doug Baruchin, director of operations for MyWorkster, said in a statement.
The social networking site also recently launched Facebook Connect, which allows users to use the reach of Facebook and sift through contacts using People Search and other MyWorkster tools.
"Other social networks and job sites are simply not taking this approach with the technology," MyWorkster CEO Jeff Saliture said in a statement. "MyWorkster offers the best available technologies that create speed and precision in the professional networking process."
The social networking site provides access to almost 5 million jobs and thousands of employers. In addition to connecting job candidates and employers, the site promotes mentoring, contacts with educational institutions, and other resources for information on career advancement and job opportunities. It also hosts collegiate networks and groups based on industry and professional associations.
