Business process management vendor Lombardi Software this week struck a pact with Athens Group, a systems integrator and consulting firm, to jointly market and deploy Lombardi's TeamWorks platform.

Lombardi and Athens Group plan to focus on the retail, energy and financial services industries. Athens Group said it has trained a large number of its consultants on the Lombardi BPM platform.

The partnership stems from past and ongoing joint implementation work the vendors have done for shared clients. PC giant Dell and high-end grocery retailer Whole Foods Markets are among Lombardi and Athens Groups' common customers, and both technology firms have experience in the oil and gas industry.

Lombardi and Athens Group are based in Austin, Texas.
