Data auditing software developer Lumigent Technologies Inc. has teamed with Sybase Inc. to jointly develop and market Lumigent's Entegra for Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) databases.

Entegra will be positioned for Sybase's large financial services customers and others that must comply with government-regulated data auditing requirements, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and HIPAA. The software is used to maintain the integrity of data, reduce the risk of inappropriate changes and access to data, and meet compliance regulations.

"Everyday access and changes to corporate data is fraught with risk," said Clifford Pollan, CEO of Lumigent Technologies, in a prepared statement. "Human error or fraud in databases can damage a company's brand, reputation, and ability to acquire and retain customers. Sybase's customers, especially those in highly regulated industries such as financial services, need to maintain complete records of data access and use through a comprehensive, continuous audit trail, so they are better equipped to address risk management and regulatory compliance requirements."

According to Lumigent, Entegra will enable organizations with Sybase ASE databases to assure end-to-end integrity of financial transactions for regulatory compliance by identifying when modifications are made, detecting and analyzing breaches in user and application behavior, monitoring database activity that occurs outside of application controls and security measures, validating policies and continually monitoring the effectiveness of those polices and controls.

Entegra for Sybase ASE is scheduled for availability in late 2004 from both Sybase and Lumigent.
