The new release of Microstrategy 7i, called Universal Edition, is compiled to 32-bit and 64-bit modes from the code base and is designed to run on Microsoft Windows, IBM AIX and Sun Solaris operating systems.
MicroStrategy anticipates the release will better position it among Unix shops and those companies undergoing standardization of their BI tools. About 22 percent of the BI market is based on Unix, according to research firm IDC.
Like other versions of 7i, Universal Edition delivers enterprise reporting, cube analysis, ad hoc query and analysis, statistical analysis and report delivery. The software is expected to go to market this week at a starting price of $744 per user or $58,000 per CPU.
