Yahoo has created a place for job seekers to find companies that are hiring the most workers.

The online portal launched HotJobs100, a list of the top 100 companies that are hiring across all industries, Tuesday. The list will be updated quarterly, Yahoo said.

Also this week, Yahoo's Hot Jobs named industries and locations where hiring is the hottest. They include New York, San Francisco, San Jose, Houston, and Atlanta.

"Sometimes it's not about who you know, but rather where you go when conducting your job search," Yahoo HotJobs' Senior Managing Editor Tom Musbach said in a statement. "There are geographic hiring hot spots, companies hungry for talent and stable industries that are growing in spite of the economy. There is absolutely no reason for people to feel stuck in a job because they are threatened by the economic landscape."

The industries most actively hiring include healthcare, retail, service, technology, and finance and accounting. Other sectors that rank high for hiring include telecommunications, manufacturing and operations, and government.

"The great thing about these in-demand industries is that they include not only highly skilled jobs and jobs that require a degree but part time and temporary positions as well," Musbach said. "There is opportunity for everyone, especially those willing to look outside their usual commute or traditional industry."

One-third of respondents in a recent Yahoo HotJobs online survey of more than 600 employed people said that landing a dream job in the current economy is just not possible. More than 50% of respondents said they see no relief in sight and expect the employment situation to worsen over the next six months. Forty-two percent said a lack of openings in companies they are interested in poses one of the biggest obstacles to finding a job now.
