Xactly plans to embed within its sales-compensation management application Pervasive Software tools for integrating Xactly's software-as-a-service offering with customers' back-end systems.

Under the partnership announced Monday, Xactly will use Pervasive's Business Integrator and adapter technologies. Integrator in general provides an event-driven, message-based infrastructure for tying applications.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Pervasive has agreed to offer its software under a licensing model compatible with Xactly's on-demand pricing. Pricing for the Xactly system costs from $4,000 to $5,000 a month for 100 users.

Xactly's service enables companies to model the outcomes of sales commissions based on projected sales volumes and product mix. Subscribers can also design, implement, manage and audit new incentive programs, or ones already in place.

Xactly already ships connectors for products from SAP, Oracle, Microsoft and Sage Software, which develops SalesLogix. Xactly's compensation technology is also tightly integrated with Salesforce.com, another on-demand vendor. Salesforce.com manages customer data and provides analytics to salespeople.

In using Pervasive technology, Xactly hopes to extend its integration capabilities to more back-end systems and disparate data sources. Pervasive's Business Integrator product includes message bus support, XML-based integration repositories for storing design-time metadata, and a multi-threaded integration engine.

"We were looking for an integration solution that would give us the ability to on-ramp new customers quickly and help overcome traditional on-premise implementation barriers as we move up-market," Jimmy Duan, Xactly vice president of client services, said in a statement. "Pervasive’s integration architecture, adapters to many business applications and data sources, and flexible pricing model enable us to provide a flexible, rapid, low-cost solution for integrating Xactly Incent with leading enterprise applications and disparate data sources.”

In deploying Pervasive technology, Xactly said it would augment its staff with consulting services from the integration software maker.
