SAP America has appointed Patrick Bakey senior vice president of its North American CRM unit. An 18-year veteran of the IT industry, Bakey was most recently the vice president of federal sales for Siebel Systems.

His appointment comes at an important juncture for SAP's CRM business. According to a recent study by AMR Research, SAP is poised to become the CRM market leader, with 12 per cent projected growth rate - nine per cent higher than its nearest rival.

SAP's overall second quarter revenues grew by 63 per cent in the United States, thanks in part to the vitality of its CRM sales. Global revenues for mySAP CRM increased almost 55 per cent in the first quarter of 2004, rising from 71 million Euros to 110 million Euros.

Bakey's job will be to maintain SAP's momentum in the North American CRM market and nurture its continued growth. He will report directly to John Nugent, executive vice president of sales, SAP America.
