Composite Information Server 3.0
Enterprise information integration is known for convenience-enabling ad hoc integration of sources not formally integrated-but not necessarily for speedy performance. Achieving high-performance access to distributed data across the enterprise, the latest generation of Composite Information Server (CIS) introduces Composite Intelligent Query technology, which formulates the optimal data integration plan in real time. Composite has also introduced more extensive read/write support, enabling enterprise app developers to write applications on top of CIS instead of a physical database. In addition, release 3.0 expands data sources, now handling static and streaming XML, LDAP and Java procedures. Pricing begins at approximately $100,000. Composite Software, www.compositesw.com

Edge 2.0
By providing visibility and control over the order stream, Edge attacks costly problems such as speculative buying, counterfeit and unsafe products, wholesale and retail stockouts and unauthorized chargebacks and deductions. It also provides continuous channel scorecarding and transaction control to monitor and enforce trade agreements. Pricing on a per-server basis starts at $500,000. JRockit 5.0
BEA Systems touts its JRockit JDK, compatible with the J2SE 5.0 specification, as offering the best-performing, easiest-to-use, and most manageable JVM optimized for 32-bit and 64-bit Intel Xeon and Itanium2 processor-based servers. In short, it's designed to help Java developers deploy large-scale applications more quickly and efficiently, optimizing performance with minimal configuration. Free download. WebLogic Server 9.0
Code-named Diablo, this version of the WebLogic Server is designed to help companies rapidly develop and deploy very high-volume, minimal-disruption applications in a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Diablo will be the cornerstone of the upcoming WebLogic Platform 9.0, intended to bring SOA to mainstream IT projects. Among other SOA-targeted features, the enhanced service security framework is designed to alleviate the security problems that dog SOAs. Diablo also now delivers enterprise-class messaging as part of its unified platform, moving BEA further into the enterprise service bus market. Beta version free to download. Eclipse Test & Performance Tools Platform (TPTP) 3.2
The second significant platform release since the August 2004 creation of the open-source TPTP Project, 3.2 provides important enhancements to the platform's user interface, data collection and Java tracing system. Free download. Eclipse Foundation, www.eclipse.org
