The most recent IDC report on tech spending was just released and its good news for small and midsize businesses.IDC estimates that "worldwide technology spending growth to range between 5.5 percent and 6 percent in 2008, down from about 7 percent this year. U.S. spending growth will dip to 3 percent to 4 percent next year from 6.6 percent in 2007," PC World reports that IDC said.

Why should that be music to small and midsize businesses' ears? Because, as information reports: "IT companies are expected to focus on high-growth markets like small to medium-sized businesses."

Even the almighty Google "wants a beachhead into the small, medium-sized business market," PC world quotes IDC's senior vice president of research Frank Gens, who adds that he expects "such businesses to increase spending by 8 percent to 10 percent next year."

As Sally Field trilled in her most famous Oscar acceptance speech: "You like me, you really like me!"

Yes, small and midsize businesses, IT companies are starting to really like you or at least the potential dollars you'll spend on their products. But who cares why? If they make products scaled down to small and midsize business size that can help you run your business more efficiently, that's all that counts.
