Games on smartphones are nothing new, but Apptoyz has a new and interesting angle. It offers plastic game accessories, such as the appBlaster, which we tested at the CTIA Wireless conference in New Orleans. Watch the video below.

A clamp holds your smartphone in place. The appBlaster gun interacts with special apps running on the smartphone and taps the screen in response to your trigger pulls. All the electronics are in the phone. Note how the game superimposes the aliens you're shooting on top of the image coming in from the phone.

AppBlaster works with the iPhone and iPod Touch, with Android support coming.

The company also was showing helicopter, fishing rod, and driving console prototypes. They didn't demonstrate them for us, but you can see them in action in the company video below.
