The Interop New York Conference and Expo, held from Sept. 30 through Oct. 4, will focus on innovations and strategies to help your business make the best use of the technology tools available today.

Interop showcases the latest innovative technology products and services and offers enterprise IT managers the opportunity to hear a broad range of viewpoints on how to use those technologies to further business goals. A stellar lineup of industry experts, analysts and peers will participate in a host of panels and discussions highlighting best practices and exploring alternative approaches.

This year Interop is co-located with the Ethernet & SDN Expo. The partnership has made Interop the world's largest event for both service providers and IT professionals. As service providers and network systems companies debate the future of core computing and networking technologies, IT managers can gain insight on developments in IT networking and computing infrastructure trends.

Keynote speakers at Interop 2013 include John Chambers of Cisco, Angel Luis Diaz of IBM Software Group, Stephen B. Alexander of Ciena, John Considine of Verizon Terremark, Michelle Lee of Textizen, and Mark Headd, chief data officer of the City of Philadelphia.

This year's schedule comprises two days of pre-conference workshops and three days of lectures, panels and discussions led by IT analysts and industry peers. Lecture and discussion topics include the business of IT, applications and collaboration, cloud computing and virtualization, infrastructure, mobility, and risk management and security.

Attendees can explore the latest innovations in these technologies on the Interop Expo floor, where more than 125 companies will showcase new products. It's a chance to catch up on your current IT suppliers' new and upgraded products and to learn about alternative solutions offered by other vendors.

Many vendors plan to announce or showcase new products and services. We've compiled a list of nine exhibitors that are expected to put significant developments on display at this year's conference.

Networking vendor Ciena is expected to showcase its new WaveLogic 3, which contains technology that can support higher traffic and handle more high-bandwidth applications, HD video and data services. The company will also exhibit its V-WAN Network Services Module, which leverages WAN virtualization to deliver software-driven networking. Ciena will also show its new digital video transport system, which delivers uncompressed videos and preserves signal quality over long distances.
