Steve Case, co-founder of America Online, is offering a select number of people a peak at his new health care portal.

A preview version of Revolution Health is available to "invited guests." The purpose of the test site is to get feedback from the early users.

Among the available features is the ability to rate a doctor and see what others say about their physicians. There also are online tools to help determine a person's health risks, and to develop a plan for improving one's health. Users also can ask each other health questions and get advice from experts.

The portal is part of Revolution Health Group, one of three business groups under Revolution LLC, a company Case launched in 2005. Revolution's goal is to build businesses that provide consumers with services in markets poised for dramatic change, such as health care, wellness, and resort management. Case unveiled the company the same year he left AOL parent company Time Warner, and has invested $500 million in the new venture.

In building the portal, RHG has acquired several start-up firms, and has made equity investments in others. The company's board is chaired by Case. Other members include former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell; former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina; former Netscape CEO Jim Barksdale; former Oxford Health Plans CEO Steve Wiggins; and former Fannie Mae CEO Frank Raines.

Parent company Revolution also has gone on a buying spree since its launch, gobbling up companies such as Wisdom Media Group, which provides wellness and health-care programming to cable television and satellite radio, and Miraval, which operates the Life in Balance wellness resort.
