AppIQ Inc. today will unveil its StorageAuthority Suite, an application-focused utility for managing storage.

The new suite includes StorageAuthority for File Servers, for better use of storage resources. Thanks to integration with Veritas Software Corp., customers can manage Veritas' NetBackup product using the StorageAuthority console. Expanded storage-component coverage and beefier provisioning also come with the StorageAuthority suite.

An industry analyst says there are two important capabilities that come with the new suite. "The new software should let administrators see the tendencies of all storage components to achieve quicker answers regarding file performance," says John Webster at Data Mobility Group. "Customers could also sense when Oracle or Microsoft Exchange need more storage and allocate the capacity through a provisioning module."
