The Internet Systems Consortium has begun selling commercial support for the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND), open source software for translating domain numbers into textual domain names.

ISC estimates that BIND is in use on more than 75 percent of Domain Name System (DNS) servers globally.

BIND translates numerical domains to text domains, like linuxpipeline.com.

Annual support fees are priced starting at $5,000. Pricing depends on factors including desired response times, and size and complexity of the network being supported. More information is available at the ISC web site.

ISC is a nonprofit that maintains several utilities, including DHCP and OpenReg. It hosts several open source projects, including NetBSD, XFree86, and kernel.org, and provides name services and support for DNS.
