EMC has opened a "Competency Center" to help companies use the storage vendors' products with technologies from other vendors in deploying data warehouses and business intelligence and analytics software.
The center would offer potential customers 'one-stop shopping' by delivering joint technology from EMC and partners Greenplum, IBM, Microsoft, Netezza, Oracle, ParAccel, Sybase, Teradata and Vertica. Specifically, EMC would conduct co-engineering activities to integrate partners' software with EMC Clariion and Symmetrix networked storage systems.
The center would help IT organizations evaluate, plan and architect their implementation with EMC acting as the information infrastructure provider and the data warehouse/business intelligence software provider. EMC would take on the dual role through its consulting services, which would provide white papers, planning and design and the integrated joint applications.
"EMC has invested in the technology, services and partnerships required to deliver integrated solutions to effectively manage data warehouse/business intelligence environments," Chuck Hollis, VP and global marketing chief technology officer for EMC, said in a statement released Wednesday. "EMC’s new application Competency Center will help customers better understand how to address their business goals today and in the future and choose the appropriate solution to achieve these needs."
The center, headquartered in EMC's Santa Clara, Calif., facility, will offer video conferencing through Cisco TelePresence.
