Enterprise cost-management software supplier ePlus Inc. on Wednesday said it was acquiring the software business of Digital Paper Corp., a provider of document access and collaboration technology.

The acquisition will enable ePlus to expand its cost-management product line to include an enhanced content-management system for the sharing of large or unstructured documents such as engineering drawings, facilities diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals, the company says.

In addition, ePlus now will be able to offer customers and their partners the ability to both retrieve and annotate documents over the Web. Customers for E-sourcing, engineering change notification, manufacturing, maintenance, and asset management currently use the software.

Ken Farber, president of ePlus, said in a statement that the company plans to apply the new capabilities across its product line, including its Procure+, Content+, and Manage+ solutions for eProcurement, electronic catalog content management, and asset management. The company also plans to continue to sell Digital Paper's products as standalone solutions and service the existing customer base.

The transaction includes all of the related intellectual property, registered and applied-for patents, trademarks, and the Digital Paper name.
