If you do a lot of cutting and pasting with text, you know that font size, color and typeface don't always come along for the ride. And when they do, the pasted result can look funky.

When all you need is the content--plain text, without the original formatting--use PureText 2.0, a free utility for Windows XP, Vista and 7. It strips out the formatting and delivers plain text without hassle.

PureText operates as a System Tray utility. The icon is the letters "PT".

PureText works when you use a hot-key combo--the default of Windows+V or one of your own creation. PureText then pastes the contents of your clipboard as plain text, stripping out all formatting.

I find this great for pulling content from Web pages for placement into my Word and PowerPoint docs. Anyone who does a lot of writing and moving text among documents at work should check out PureText.
