Independence Blue Cross in Pennsylvania has announced the deployment of a new E-billing and online customer-care service using the eaSuite of applications from Edocs Inc.

The new apps will let the health-insurance company's customers receive bills, get quotes, and schedule payments online. IBC expects eaSuite to reduce the number of billing-related service calls, improve cash flow, cut postage and personnel costs associated with paper billing, and increase customer satisfaction and retention.

IBC has multiple back-end systems that feed into eaSuite to create a consolidated document and to ensure that payments are applied to the correct invoices and are routed to the proper department, a previously manual and labor-intensive process.

IBC is the third Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plan to install Edocs' technology in the last year, having signed a national partnership with the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association by which it agreed to promote the technology and share best practices with 41 other independent member plans.
