Informatica Corp., re-emphasizing its focus on data integration, is acquiring Striva Corp., a privately held developer of mainframe integration software, in a cash and stock deal valued at $62 million. The buyout, which has been approved by both companies' boards and is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close in a few weeks.

Striva's software is used for bulk data movement and capturing changes in data in real time. Informatica has resold Striva's software as part of its PowerConnect product line for more than two years, and the software is used by some 130 Informatica customers. A recent Giga Information Group study found that mainframes and legacy systems make up 20% of the market for data warehousing and data-integration products.

Informatica said in July that it would concentrate on developing and selling its data-integration software and no longer actively sell its line of analytical applications. Last month, the vendor debuted software called SuperGlue for integrating metadata from disparate systems.
