Los Angeles-based outsourcer Computer Sciences Corp. said Wednesday that it has won a contract extension from John Hancock Financial Services, a division of Manulife Financial.

Under the extension, CSC will continue to provide software application development and maintenance services to John Hancock through May, 2011. The software allows John Hancock to administer more than one million fixed and variable annuity policies. The extension is worth $50 million and covers services to be delivered over the next four years, CSC said.

CSC said the nine-year contract to help modernize IT systems in the northeast and east of England is worth up to $3.73 billion. Accenture has said delays implementing the program caused it to pull out.
