Linux vendors will introduce new products and alliances this week at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in San Francisco.

IBM plans to introduce several Linux-based messaging, management, and clustering apps, including its DB2 Integrated Cluster Environment. Hewlett-Packard also will unveil several Linux-management apps, including a rapid-deployment package, server-management software, and high-availability software for Lotus Domino on Linux. Its Serviceguard server-management software supports Red Hat Enterprise Server and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 and will be available for HP's 64-bit Itanium line of servers later this year. HP and BEA Software Inc. also will expand their alliance to deliver middleware and management software running on Linux servers.

Sun Microsystems and SuSE Linux are teaming up. SuSE Linux is licensing Sun's Java 2 Standard Edition source code and will distribute Sun's Java Virtual Machine along with its Enterprise Server.

Both IBM and Hewlett-Packard plan to introduce Linux-management applications at the LinuxWorld show this week.
