The National Association of State CIOs unveiled its Enterprise Architecture Maturity Model, which state and local governments can use to review the status of their enterprise-architecture programs.
The association also designed and validated a program-assessment process to determine baseline maturity levels and provide recommendations in attaining the next level of enterprise-architecture activity. State governments will conduct assessments employing cross-functional teams that include architects, according to NASCIO. Results will be compiled from across the states to provide a national profile of state enterprise-architecture programs.
The model will prove crucial for governments needing to assess their evolving enterprise architectures and bring them to the next level of maturity, says Missouri CIO and NASCIO president Gerry Wethington.
NASCIO is developing other components of its enterprise-architecture program to aid states in the development, renewal, and maturation of their enterprise-architecture programs. Last week, the association released its Architecture Video Series, a vehicle for tech experts to show others the value of an enterprise architecture. The association is also developing its next version of the NASCIO Enterprise Architecture Tool Kit, which would include content related to business and information architecture as well as program management.
