Novell on Thursday posted Beta 1 of Mono 1.90, an open source version of the Microsoft .Net development platform.

Project Mono is designed to allow Linux and Unix developers to build and deploy cross-platform .Net applications.

Mono 1.0, due later this year, includes .Net-compliant components including a C# compiler, Common Language Runtime just-in-time compiler, and a full suite of class libraries.
