Linux distributor Red Hat on Wednesday introduced a provisioning module designed to make it easier for enterprise customers to deploy, configure and manage their Linux systems.

The module, part of the Open Source Architecture (OSA) that Raleigh, N.C.-based Red Hat unveiled last September, will help customers deploy and manage the entire life cycle of a system and application stack, company executives said in a statement released at the LinuxWorld Expo in New York.

As part of the OSA announcement, Red Hat promised to deliver virtualization and provisioning services for building on-demand environments in Linux data centers. The module, for instance, includes OS provisioning, configuration management, multistate rollback and RPM-based application provisioning.

The provisioning module joins the update and management modules now available to Red Hat Enterprise subscription customers as part of the Red Hat Network.
